The average housing costs in the City of Leicester and the County of Leicestershire (£134,912 and £179,296 respectively) are about half those in Greater London (£300,329). The average price for a detached house is £255,920 and £261,465 in the City of Leicester and the County of Leicestershire respectively, are around 40% of those in Greater London (£634,855). The average price for a terraced house is around a third of an equivalent property in Greater London.
If your preference is for city living, the City of Leicester provides a wide choice of housing catering for families, couples and single people. The choice ranges from executive homes and luxurious waterfront apartments to detached and semi-detached houses, town houses and terraced housing. There is also a thriving rental market as well. If you wish to consider locations outside the City, you may prefer one of the County’s lively and stylish county towns, such as Loughborough or Hinckley. Alternatively, you may wish to consider one of the historic market towns, such as Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Market Bosworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. There are also many sleepy little villages off the beaten track…In fact, there is everything here to suit just about any lifestyle.

Thanks to Leicestershire’s central location, access to good road and rails links and compelling peak drivetime profiles, there is also a wide choice of urban and rural residential locations within one hour’s drive of Leicestershire. Large parts of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire all within 60 minute peak drivetime of Leicester and Leicestershire. This means Leicestershire also provides an excellent base for spouses moving as part of the relocation process to access a wide range of job opportunities in the wider region (as well as maintaining the option to commute to London).
