The quality of health care in Leicestershire is extremely high. The area is served by the three-star rated University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, which runs the acute hospitals services in Leicester. There are also a number of smaller hospitals in Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Ashby de la Zouch, Melton, Coalville, Hinckley and Oakham, together with an NHS Walk-in Centre in Loughborough. All the Primary Care Trusts (PCT’s) in Leicestershire are two-star rated and performing well.
Leicester is currently undergoing a
massive £761 million investment in its hospitals. "Pathway" represents the largest Public Finance Initiative (PFI) hospital development outside of London. There is also a £50 million investment programme being implemented for Leicester’s health and social care centres.
