Commuting by Train to Work

Within Leicestershire, the rail network provides an excellent means of travelling to work, particularly in the City of Leicester and allows staff to have a wide choice of locations for where to live (see Chart 2). There are high speed rail links into Leicester from Loughborough to the north (15 minutes to Leicester) with a local service serving stations at Barrow-upon-Soar (20 minutes to Leicester), Sileby (15 minutes) and Syston (10 minutes). From the east there are rail services from Melton Mowbray (20 minutes to Leicester) and Oakham (30 minutes). From the south, Market Harborough is only 16 minutes by high speed train into Leicester. From the south west, local train service operate from Hinckley (20 minutes to Leicester), Narborough (11 minutes) and South Wigston (6 minutes).
